Founded in March 2022, the Yancheng Local Culture International Communication Research Center is a new-type think tank co-established by the Yancheng Federation of Philosophy and Social Sciences and Yancheng Institute of Technology. It is also a brand project of Yancheng Institute of Technology to serve the national strategic needs of international communication and Yancheng's urban internationalization development. The center has 12 full-time researchers (including 9 with senior professional titles and 6 doctors), forming an interdisciplinary and high-level research team. Focusing on the overseas translation and international communication of Yancheng's local cultures (such as New Fourth Army Culture, Sea Salt Culture, Wetland Culture, and Huai Opera Culture), the center deeply explores the connotation of Yancheng's local culture and strives to promote Yancheng's local culture to the world.
The center features distinct characteristics. Relying on the faculty advantages of the translation discipline of Yancheng Institute of Technology and the overseas media matrix resources of the cooperative unit Yancheng International Communication Center, it utilizes multiple languages including English, Japanese, Korean, and German. Through diversified forms such as monographs and translations, research papers, media reports, and external publicity short videos, the center endeavors to tell good stories about Yancheng. It showcases Yancheng's urban charm to the world in a way that international audiences love to listen to, watch, and resonate with, striving to let the world know Yancheng and enable Yancheng to go global. Over the past three years, focusing on the field of Yancheng's cultural external publicity and communication, the center has been approved for 1 Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Sciences Research Project, 1 Jiangsu Provincial University Philosophy and Social Sciences Major Research Project, 3 Jiangsu Provincial Social Sciences Applied Research Projects, and 10 Yancheng Social Sciences Fund Projects (including 2 key projects). It has completed 12 decision-making consulting reports, 5 of which have received positive comments from major leaders of the province and city. Its research achievements have won the Second Prize of Jiangsu Provincial Social Sciences Applied Excellence Project twice and the Second Prize of Yancheng Philosophy and Social Sciences Excellent Achievements three times. Relevant work has been reported by media such as the Central Propaganda Department's "Learning Power" platform, China Youth Daily, and Yancheng Mass Daily, aiming to be rooted in Yancheng, research Yancheng, and serve Yancheng.
