On the afternoon of May 30, the 14th session of the "Qingjin Academic Forum" series of academic activities (Think Tank Expert Report Meeting) of Yancheng Institute of Technology was held in Meeting Room A404 of Runmei Building on the Xiwang Avenue Campus. Co-hosted by the Yancheng Local Culture International Communication Research Center, the university's Department of Social Sciences, and the School of Foreign Languages, the event invited experts and scholars including Zhang Haisu, Director of the Research and Training Department of Jiangsu Xinhua Media Think Tank, and Professor Wang Yinquan from the School of Foreign Languages of Nanjing Agricultural University to conduct in-depth exchanges on themes such as local think tank construction and international cultural communication.
Ye Lei, Executive Director of the Yancheng Local Culture International Communication Research Center and Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Jiao Weiling, Deputy Director of the Department of Social Sciences, and representatives of teachers from the university's scientific research institutions attended the event. Wu Bin, Secretary-General of the Yancheng Local Culture International Communication Research Center and Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, presided over the meeting.
On behalf of the Department of Social Sciences, Jiao Weiling delivered a speech, pointing out that think tank construction plays an important role in serving the local economic and social development. Taking this event as an opportunity, the Department of Social Sciences will further deepen university-local cooperation and continuously promote the high-quality development of the university's think tank platform construction. Ye Lei stated that the School of Foreign Languages will rely on municipal-level think tank platforms such as the Yancheng Local Culture International Communication Research Center, give full play to the advantages of the school's translation discipline, focus on the external publicity translation and international communication of Yancheng's local culture, and actively serve the "going global" of Yancheng's local culture.
In the think tank expert report session, Zhang Haisu gave a report titled "Construction of New-Type Think Tanks with Chinese Characteristics and Jiangsu's Practice". Combining his rich experience in media and think tank construction, he systematically expounded the theoretical framework and functional positioning of new-type think tanks, and shared Jiangsu's innovative practices in fields such as public opinion management and crisis public relations. Wang Yinquan delivered a report titled "My Academic Life—On National Awareness in Foreign Language Education and Cross-Border Integration Development of Foreign Language Disciplines". He pointed out that foreign language education needs to strengthen national awareness and promote the in-depth integration of translation practice with the international communication of Chinese culture. Taking the Sino-British co-produced documentary "Oriental Wisdom: The Story of Traditional Chinese Medicine" he participated in as an example, he demonstrated the typical cases and realization paths of academic research serving the "going global" of China's excellent traditional culture.
An appointment ceremony of chief experts of the Yancheng Local Culture International Communication Research Center was also held at the scene. Jiao Weiling and Ye Lei jointly issued appointment letters to the experts.
